Teknotávli

The Teknotávli prototype was born from offcuts of aluminium profiles in the workshop. The final version uses newer material but keeps the shape that those first fragments drew.
Tavli, Greek backgammon, is played outdoors: on a terrace, at the kafenío, on the corner of a table in the shade. Once the board is open, the afternoon can last. People settle in, order a coffee, the dice clatter, the neighbours comment: the game is shared as much as it is played. Teknotavli is designed for that moment, as an object carried under the arm, unfolded between two chairs, that holds its place in the street.
The assembly stays legible. Each part is assembled by hand; the game can be taken apart, repaired, passed on. The making is not hidden under a finish, it shapes the design. Hence its name, between téchni (τέχνη), the art of the gesture, and technikí (τεχνική), the logic of construction.
